Summary
It opened in 1974. In the approx. 26.6 hectare Yamato Minzoku Park, natural forests still remain, and trees and flowers, such as Japanese plums and Japanese irises, are planted neatly. Nara Prefectural Museum of Folklore is located at the center of the slightly southeastern part of the premises.

Instruments having been necessary for people living in Nara, such as farming tools, have been collected, kept and exhibited publicly.
Yamato Minzoku Park
Houses (private houses and dozo warehouses [warehouses made of soil]) in various building styles, all of which were built in the Edo period and have been used in various places in Nara Prefecture, eleven items and 15 buildings in total, including thatched roof houses, were disassembled and reconstructed there, and are now exhibited there. Of them, two items (three buildings) are designated as national important cultural properties of Japan, and seven items (ten buildings) as tangible cultural properties of Nara Prefecture.

Access to the museum
The Kintetsu Kashihara line of Kinki Nippon Railway Company: Get off at the Kintetsu-Koriyama Station, use Nara Kotsu Bus, get off at the Yatahigashiyama bus stop and walk for approx. seven minutes.
It takes about an hour on foot from the station.
The Yamatoji line of West Japan Railway Company: Get off at the Koriyama station (in Nara Prefecture) and walk for about an hour and 15 minutes.
